Forklift loading cargo safely as part of the Essential Safety Services Forklift New Operator course.

Course Description:

This Forklift New Operator course will teach an individual with little to no experience, how to operate a forklift safely. The course is designed with an intensive instructional program that will be tested and discussed. You will additionally have hands-on practice using a forklift.

Course Content:

This course consists of a combination of classroom and hands-on learning activities.

  • Pre-shift inspection
  • Relevant provincial and federal legislation
  • C.S.A. Standard and the applicable provincial guidelines
  • Pedestrian awareness
  • Stability principles: lift truck design and operation
  • Parts of a truck/pre-shift inspection
  • Operation of truck
  • Fuel sources (battery, propane, gas, diesel)
  • General safety rules/guidelines

Who Should Attend:

Workers, managers, supervisors and health and safety professionals. (CSA  B335-15)
